Dr. Bhupesh Kumar Lad is currently an Assistant Professor with the Discipline of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. He is associated with Industrial Engineering Research Group at IIT Indore. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Govt. Engineering College Bilaspur (GEC Bilaspur) and later did his masters in Industrial Engineering and Management from Govt. Engineering College Ujjain (UEC Ujjain). Subsequently, he completed his Ph.D. in the area of Reliability Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD). Before joining IIT Indore he was working with GE global research center, Bangalore as a research engineer.

His research interests are: Reliability Engineering, Prognosis and Manufacturing Operations Planning. Currently, 05 PhD students are working under his supervision for their research. Dr. Bhupesh Kr. Lad is also an Associate Editor of International Journal of Performability Engineering (IJPE). He has published several research articles in national and international journals and conferences of repute. He has also published one book chapter in “Handbook of Performability Engineering”

Industrial Engineering Research Group


The Industrial Engineering Research Group (IERG) at IIT Indore is engaged in cutting edge research in the area of “Prognostics”, “Reliability modeling” and “Cyber-Physical system and IOT based manufacturing planning”. The group has state-of-the-art computing and experimental facilities to support its on-going research projects. Currently, 5 Ph.D. scholars and 2 M.Tech. students are pursuing their research in the group. Group also has active involvement of undergraduate (B.Tech.) students in the research.

Intelligent Manufacturing Planning Lab


IMPL is currently working in one of the most sought out and advanced area of manufacturing planning which is a combination of 'Cyber-Physical Systems' and 'Industrial Internet of Things'. It is involved in cutting-edge research in the area of 'Operations Strategy and Management'. The group has state-of-the-art computing facilities to support its ongoing research projects. It is dedicated to exploring, designing and developing technology in the field of integrated and distributed operations planning algorithms and immediately-implementable CyberPhysical systems with an overlong aim of developing a Virtual Industry.
